Roland Rupprechter is CEO of R&B Wealth Management, a firm licensed and supervised by the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA). Before that, he headed the asset management units of St. Galler Kantonalbank (Switzerland) and Hypo Vorarlberg (Austria) for more than 20 years.

He studied Banking and Insurance at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien) and graduated with distinction ("Sehr gut") with his master thesis „Credit risk shifting via securitization – from cardiac arrest to rehab”, submitted to David T. Llewellyn, Professor of Money and Banking, Loughborough University, United Kingdom.

He also successfully completed the two professional programs leading to the designations Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA) and Certified Portfolio Manager (CPM).

In addition, EBS University of Business and Law in Frankfurt am Main awarded him the designation of Quantitative Investment Analyst (EBS/DBG).

Earlier, Roland Rupprechter earned a Diploma in Finance from the Swiss Banking School in Zurich, which distinguished his diploma thesis “Integration von nicht-traditionellen Anlagen im Rahmen des Asset-Allocation-Prozesses” (“Integrating non-traditional assets into the asset allocation process”) as one of the best papers of its year and published it in a dedicated monograph series with Paul Haupt Publishers, Bern (ISBN 3-258-06584-5).

Before and during these studies, he spent seven years as Head of Portfolio and Asset Management at St. Galler Kantonalbank in St. Gallen (Switzerland), which, in recognition of his performance, promoted him to Director (Mitglied der Direktion) with effect from January 2000. Such was his standing that he also received an attractive senior offer at director level from UBS Switzerland during that time.

Roland Rupprechter has published numerous articles on quantitative investing in renowned professional journals and lectured in portfolio and capital market theory at the Bankakademie St. Gallen.

His current research is consolidated in a twelve-part scientific series of publications (2023–2026, each in German and English), which, on an empirical basis, spans the entire field of capital investment — from the mechanics of compound interest through company valuation and the instruments of risk management to the interplay of monetary and fiscal policy. It includes independent empirical studies on the optimal allocation of gold and bitcoin in globally diversified portfolios, as well as the modified Sharpe ratio method he developed (the “R-Sharpe Ratio”), which closes a knowledge gap in performance measurement. The empirical capstone is an econometric case study examining six decades of S&P 500 monthly returns (1966–2025, 720 observations based on data from Robert J. Shiller, Yale University) in a comparison of periods from the Old Economy through the New Economy to the AI era — applying six test procedures from unit root tests to predictive CAPE regression. The findings of this research are brought together in his monograph “Wissenschaftlich fundiert investieren. Das Einmaleins der Kapitalanlage” (“Science-Based Investing. The Essentials of Capital Investment”), based on his own findings and those of 32 Nobel laureates.

He is a member of the Austrian Association for Financial Analysis and Asset Management (ÖVFA).

Under Roland Rupprechter's leadership, the Austrian Fund of Funds Award (Österreichischer Dachfonds Award) in the main category Equities was won seven times for the best risk-adjusted performance. Most recently three times in a row for R&B Wealth Management. An outstanding record in Austria.

A qualification that has become rare today dates from the era of floor trading: as an exchange trader admitted by the Vienna Stock Exchange Chamber (Wiener Börsekammer), Roland Rupprechter worked on the trading floor of the Vienna Stock Exchange (open-outcry trading) from 1988 to 1992.

Roland Rupprechter is a licensed helicopter and airplane pilot and privately flies turbine helicopters.
